Lolita Fashion Sites, Shops, and Resources
I have been putting together a large document of online shops for lolita fashion, from the most popular Japanese brands, to Taobao shops, to the smallest indie brands. Though I've put as much into the spreadsheets as possible, due to the large number of shops that exist and the difficulty that comes with finding all of them, it is still considered largely "in progress". I will try to put together a suggestions form for you to send me shops you know of that aren't already on the list. Use the tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet to navigate the different lists, and check out the rest of this page for more info, links, and resources relating to the fashion.
Here's a direct link for your viewing pleasure.
More Taobao brand lists:
I did my best to cross-reference other lists for Taobao shops, but due to the huge number of shops out there, I figure it would be best to post some other lists here that may also have some other resources.
Taobao Shopping services:
There are lots out there, but here are some highlights.
Sites to avoid/use extreme caution:
These are a collection of sites that have a variety of issues associated with them and are generally agreed upon by the community are not worth using.
- Devil Inspired
- It's another taobao reseller, one that pushes itself a lot via serch results and sponserships, but tends to have massive markups and a history of bad to non-existent customer services, as well as generally poor communication and waiting times. They also tend to have issues with keeping customer data secure. It does sell actual taobao pieces however, so it should be fine to use for browsing.
- Milanoo
- A site that sells a wide variety of things, but is known accross the board for terrible/non-existence customer service, false listings, replicas, and overall is just very scummy. Has an F rating with the Better Business Beaurau. What makes them particularly notable is that they have a lot of websites that act as "fronts", so you don't think you're buying from Milanoo even though you are. I'll try to add some resources on how to avoid similar scams soon.
- Amazon
- There are actually some valid lolita pieces you can find on amazon, but wading through the huge sea of fake listings, replicas, and totally non-lolita listings make it completely not worth it. If you do find a listing, do ample research to ensure it's by a valid seller.
- Etsy
- Again, there are some particular sellers who do amazing work via etsy (please see the indie list above!) but searching through the site for lolita will drown you with scams and replicas, a lot of photos are stolen from taobao.
- Soufflesong/Neverland
- This is a taobao brand that also has its own dedicated website. They have very mixed reviews in regards to the quality, both in materials and in tailoring. They also seem to have customer service issues, and most concerningly they have shown explicit support of cotton sourced from Uighur labor camps. This is particularly notable case, but see here for a more extensive list of lolita brands that support such things.
Measurements and sizing guides:
- Getting your basic measurements
- Finding your true bra size
Author's note: If you never have before, I personally recommend measuring your bra size yourself. Guessing your size won't be very accurate, and getting measured at a store is likely to have you given an incorrect size so that you'll fit into the sizes that they carry. You may be surprised to find out what your real size is!
